HOME BIOGRAPHY
BIOGRAPHY Being the third generation born in North Vancouver, I grew up familiar with provincial politics through my father, Alan White, who was a political columnist. Between BC and the Yukon, I spent a great deal of time in wilderness environments which translated into a career in wilderness programs. At seventeen, I left a summer job at a logging camp to attend Ridley College. Balancing education with seasonal forestry work, I traveled to many of the amazing areas of the province, I began to explore the synergy between rock climbing and writing.

I began working with young offenders in a wilderness program in 1992, which has materialized into two parallel careers: wilderness guiding and facilitation. I built a career on sharing the wilderness experience. Spending 1994-6 in South Africa working with a new Outward Bound school developing programs for marginalized township youth, I was involved in the Reconstruction and Development Plan and was introduced to implementing progressive community development models. Upon returning to BC, I continued to work with a variety of outdoor adventure education initiatives to promote self-awareness and an environmental ethic. I have directed what I learned in South Africa toward First Nations communities and continue to consult and develop programming initiatives for empowerment.

After a severe accident in 1998, I focused considerable attention on my lifelong dream to write. In 2002 I published rapt in awe, a unique philosophy book. I continue to work on a long term novel project titled and then we dance.

Currently I work developing and administering Community Programs in Vancouver for Outward Bound Canada as well as with an Adventure Therapy program for Burnaby Youth Custody Centre. I live in Squamish now, after residing in Pemberton for the past five years.
